This past weekend, I had 4 days off so my friend, Alfredo, and I headed down south to Temuco. It's an 8-hour bus ride from Santiago, which sounded pretty daunting at first. However, the trip down was not nearly as exhausting as I had anticipated. The buses that make these trips have "semi-cama" (semi-bed) seats that recline fairly far back and are unlike anything I've ever seen before. Check out the bus company's pics here:
Since our buses left around 11pm and arrived around 7 am, I was able to sleep for the majority of the trip there and back!
La Estacion de Buses (very similar to an airport)
Once in Temuco, we took a couple buses to get to Labranza, which is about 30 minutes west of the main city. I was particularly excited to arrive because I will be living here with a Stanford Product Design graduate later this upcoming Spring and Summer to intern at her start-up called Voz (details to come later). Overall, the house was gorgeous, but since she had just moved in a week or so ago, it's not quite furnished...hence the lack of plates and eating utensils pictured below. Still no internet or water heater (oooh cold showers!) either. As you can see in the pictures below, that didn't stop us from eating well and having a blast!
Casa Voz- My Future Home
Spaghetti!
It was raining on Saturday, so we grilled indoors on the wood-fired stove. Delicious!
