Mishiguene
After Tigre, we freshened up at home and then went to dinner at Mishiguene. Mishiguene is the natural consequence of the combination of Buenos Aires' vibrant Jewish community and thriving food scene. They serve modern, Argentinian twists on classic Jewish and Middle Eastern foods, like (quoting from this article) sous-vide guefilte fish wrapped in carrot ribbons and topped with fish roe and micro greens, and slow-cooked pastrami.
The bread appetizer included challah and a bagel-pretzel, with a fatty spread and pickles.
The baba ganoush is a whole roasted eggplant with yogurt sauce, toasted almonds, and tahini, among other things.
The varenikes (pierogis- potato stuffed dumplings) come with a ton of caramelized onions and crispy fried onions.
A rich hummus with jalapenos, chicken hearts, cauliflower, and more mollejas
The restaurant plays energetic klezmer music and has a very fancy vibe.
Craft Beer
As we've explored Buenos Aires we have seen a LOT of craft breweries and beer bars. So even though we were very full (we actually skipped dessert!) after dinner, we stopped by some of the bars right next to our AirBnB.
A very hip brewery/bar
Stouts must be popular these days in BsAs, because at both bars, they were completely out of all their stouts! But we tried a golden ale and a hefeweizen (as well as a taste of a few others) and they were pretty solid! Maybe we're a little starved for good food and beer after so long in Chile but Buenos Aires, we are impressed!
